Linseed and Other Vegetarian Sources of Omega 3 can Contribute to Saving our Oceans’ Wildlife
By: Clare Skelton
I get a frequent electronic newsletter from someone called Dr Mercola who sells a variety of health supplements. For quite a while now he has been trying to sell me “Revolutionary New Krill Oil”.
The most recent advert,Jordan SC-1, is for krill oil specifically designed for women. As this product, which also contains evening primrose oil,Air Jordan Spizike How To Deal With OCD And Depression In Teenagers, is advertised with a big yellow flower and no shrimps or dead whales in sight,Jordan Retro 13, it has spurred me into writing this response.
First a little background on the industrial harvesting of marine life. Over many decades small, boring fish called sand eels have been harvested as a feed for animals. Primarily this was considered a cheap source of protein that would go into our food chain and enable us to eat bigger steaks, more chicken, more eggs, more milk, yoghurt and cheese, all more often and more cheaply.
The consequence of this intense harvesting has been the almost total elimination of sand eels in many areas around our (UK) coast. As a result of this the many species of sea birds that rely on the humble sand eel for a staple food are struggling to rear their young. As those sea birds, including the delightful puffin, now cannot find enough food more and more of their chicks are starving. As whole populations have failed to raise their young in recent years, many sea bird populations have crashed to seriously low levels with extinction on the horizon.
As scientists have frequently pointed out, the wholesale pillage of another species’ staple food is likely to result in their decline and even extinction. A lesson that should be easy to learn…
Returning to our own,Jordan 13 Are you taking a calcium magnesium supplement, western diet for a moment, it now bares no resemblance to that of our parents and grandparents
