"I have no doubt that the Third Global Outsourcing Summit was an important milestone in the history of the global service outsourcing industry," said Zhu Shanlu, hospitality solution, the secretary of Nanjing Party Committee, after the successful completion of the event in his home city in September of this year.
With the current global financial crisis very much in mind, the summit took "Global Outsourcing's Role in Promoting the Optimum Allocation of Global Resources during the Great Economic Transformation" as its keynote theme. This provided fresh opportunities for Chinese and overseas outsourcing businesses to discuss a number of possible future projects.
The Asia-Pacific CEO Association and the International Outsourcing Center's global chairman, the former French prime minister, Dominique de Villepin, said in his opening speech: "Outsourcing is a gateway for the new economy. Innovative ideas and a high level of creativity are no longer concentrated in the United States, Europe and Japan. The new economy, with technology and knowledge at its core, has provided developing countries with unprecedented business opportunities."
The chairman stated his confidence in the outsourcing services offered by China and said he had great expectations of Chinese businesses' outsourcing capability. He told delegates: "We should be committed to improving a company's operating efficiency through dialogues aimed at creating a bright and shared future for all of us. This will require a genuine partnership between government and people."
The former prime minister proved himself an enthusiastic advocate of the Chinese outsourcing industry, saying: "The government's strategy is crucial, as outsourcing is dependent on a sound infrastructure and the educational environment provided by the government."
As part of his presentation, he outlined the requirements he sees as necessary for the successful development of the outsourcing industry. He said: "We must create a new world, a new management model and a new economy. In this era of rapid development,Business process outsourcing, mutual benefit can only be sought through cooperation. This is the responsibility required by these difficult times."
Debate at the summit focused on the potential for developing the cooperative platform between Nanjing, Europe and North America and also highlighted the importance of an open and transparent social environment for global outsourcing. This provoked in-depth discussion among the attending representatives of outsourcing businesses and a number of leading political figures.
Uma Ganesh, president of Global Talent Track, an India-based vocational training company, highlighted the importance of global human resources configuration, and briefed delegates on the process of talent cultivation within outsourcing businesses. This was of particular relevance to Chinese attendees for whom the outsourcing sector is still in its relative infancy.
During a round-table discussion, senior figures from TPI, WNS,Call centre outsourcing, Blue Dolphin Computer Animation Co Ltd and delegates from other international outsourcing companies, addressed the topic of "strengthening international service outsourcing cooperation".
A number of major players in the global service-outsourcing sector also had the opportunity for face-to-face discussions as part of the summit. Delegates also made a detailed analysis of the potential obstacles and intrinsic advantages that will affect the development of China's service outsourcing industry. The summit also promoted diversified international exchanges in politics, economics and culture.
The summit attracted more than 150 delegates from 24 countries and regions. All of them had the opportunity to exchange views and ideas on future cooperation, healthcare outsourcing, with a particular emphasis on investment opportunities.
High-profile delegates to the summit included international political leaders,Help desk outsourcing, CEOs from Fortune 500 companies and VIPs from the Top 100 global outsourcing giants.
This event followed the inaugural summit in Tianjin in 2007 and last year's follow-up in Zhengzhou.
